Mirth Connect Administrator is a GUI that connects to the Mirth Connect Server and allows users to monitor interface activity, configure interfaces, and browse the message store as needed.

Mirth Connect Server mainly consists of the back-end for the integration engine component and the management interface, which performs message filtering, transmission, and transformation.

Mirth Connect Server Manager is a GUI that manages the Mirth Connect service, contains other configuration settings for the Mirth Connect Server, and displays log files.

The tool that allows connections to the Mirth Connect Server to import, export, or deploy channels and perform other administrative tasks is known as the Mirth Connect Command Line Interface (CLI).

Firstly, you have to install Mirth Connect and then there are many ways to launch Mirth Connect Administrator like on Windows, you can launch Mirth Connect Administrator via the start menu.

You may also use the “Launch Administrator” button available in the lower left corner if you have already installed Mirth Connect Server Manager.

The default value of the username, as well as password, is “admin”. It is always advised to change these default ones with stronger ones to safeguard the system.

You need to open the below ports to access Mirth Connect from outside a network:

TCP 8443 – This is the Mirth Connect Administrator port and is used for communicating with Mirth Connect Server

TCP 8080 – This port is needed to be opened for viewing the Mirth Connect Administrator launch page

The default value of the memory allocated to the Mirth Connect Server or Service is 256MB but it can be extended in case you are running Mirth Connect Server Manager.

Another way is to change it manually by editing the %MIRTH_HOME%/mcservice.vmoptions file and changing -Xmx256m to a different value.

You have to edit the mcserver.vmoptions file in case you are not using the Mirth Connect Service and are running the Mirth Connect Server manually through its executable (mcserver)

You can change the database type in the Database tab in case you are using the Mirth Connect Server Manager. Also, make sure that you are exporting your channels and message data(if required) as the new DB will not have your current data.

Another way is to change it manually and you can edit the %MIRTH_HOME%/conf/mirth.properties file and set the database property to the DB of your choice, and by choosing from the list of available examples in the properties file. You also have to set the database.url, database.username, and database.password properties.
