There is a lot of confusion around the terms “telemedicine” and “telehealth” and Both terms are often used interchangeably, but there is a big difference between the two.
Telemedicine refers to the use of technology to deliver medical care remotely and this can be done in real-time, such as when a doctor has a video consultation with a patient, or it can be done asynchronous, like when a patient sends photos or videos of their symptoms to a doctor for review.
Telehealth, on the other hand, is much broader and includes the use of technology for any type of health-related purpose.
