With all our reliance on technology nowadays, healthcare services need extra ways to keep their information systems communicating with each other on a reliable basis. The leading global standard of interoperability is the Health Level 7, or HL7 for health systems. Its main function is to provide a framework for how different healthcare providers must trade patient information with each other. This makes HL7 a very important tool to have in one’s healthcare-related software before. A successful HL7 data transfer typically contains three things: data is successfully traded between healthcare applications or providers, the data is received and able to be interpreted, and the mode of transferring data is adequate.
